In 2007, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan began to form a customs union, also known as the Customs Union. On May 29, 2014, the heads of state of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan signed the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union in Astana, establishing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a regional economic integration international organization with international legal personality. Afterwards, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan respectively joined, and on January 1, 2015, the Eurasian Economic Union was officially launched. The countries within the Union formed a free trade zone, implementing unified tariffs, trade regulations, and technical specifications (i.e. CU TR). EAC certification is named after its certification mark. After passing the technical specification certification of EAEU, products are allowed to be used and sold in various countries within EAEU without the need for relevant technical specification certification in each country.
